P3a Miss McEwan

Health Week
Dunoon Primary School held a Health Week in April. P3a had a visit from the school nurse and William’s dad came along to tell us what it is like being a paramedic. He even brought an ambulance with him! Lewis had his blood pressure and pulse monitored. He was fit and well.
P3a learned a lot about keeping safe on and near roads during this week.
We identified safe and unsafe places to cross then we went out around Dunoon to find some good examples of this.
The children of P3a then attended a Road Safety Magic Show which was not only amazing and great fun, but very informative.
Each morning during Health Week, we started off with a bit of Jump Start Johnny! We learned fun routines and danced to great pop music which woke us up and left us feeling energised, ready for the day ahead.
A trip to Dunoon Library
We went to Dunoon Library for a visit. We got a chance to look at lots of interesting books, take part in activities and colour in. Some children found books about Ancient Egypt! Yair managed to read 96 pages of his novel in one visit! The children of P3a will definitely be back.
Ancient Egypt
Primary 3a have started a new and very exciting interdisciplinary topic about Ancient Egypt. We have worked together to compile a list of activities we would like to do and things we would like learn. There is lots of excitement within our class about our new topic!
Our Open Afternoon
To mark the end of our fabulous Countries of the World topic, the children invited their parents in to the classroom to see what they had been learning. On the day the children introduced the subject and explained the format for a fun afternoon. Parents and children worked together to complete some activities and the children of P3a took their parents on a tour of our amazing classroom.

Topic – Countries of the World

As part of our whole school interdisciplinary learning, Global Citizenship, Primary 3A have decided to study countries of the world, recognising similarities and differences in a variety of areas. As well as learning about countries altogether as a class, each child has chosen a country they would like to study and are working hard to build a Personal Project full of interesting and informative facts.
